Last night I didn't feel like going out (as opposed to my husband who went to watch the seemingly-never-ending NCAA basketball tournament which I had no desire to see) and was set to watch the film "Capote" as I just finished by third book about the good Mr. Truman . . . so I poured myself a glass of wine and flipped on the telly and all my good intentions were promptly waylaid by RuPaul, the nearly 7-foot-tall dragqueen extraordinaire. I always liked RuPaul - he has this sweet giggly gentleness about him in addition to him being absolutely fierce (and I love that I do believe he was the FIRST celeb to model for VivaGlam, the lipstick by Mac that has raised funds for persons with HIV/AIDS).
RuPaul is hosting his own reality-show "RuPaul's Drag Race " -
where a number of ferosh competitors battle it out to be the new super-Queeny Drag Queen. It was absolutely amazing watching the transformations, the lip-sync battles (RuPaul has the bottom two competitors do a lip-sync-off and says on each episode: "You better lip-sync for your life!"), the bitchiness, and, of course, the outfits!! So there I was, 4 hours later, dazed by the sequins and lashes and gowns and hairdos, when my husband came back home. A happy evening, indeed! You can see RuPaul's Drag Race on Logo, or you can also catch it on VH1.
